Grace Place is
a faith base non-profit incorporated as Nocona Grace Place, Inc.
on September 27, 2004 as a 501(c)(3) in the state of Texas. We
serve all of Montague County. Our purpose is to provide
transitional housing, food, and housing and utility assistance
for those in need due to economic emergencies. Our goals are to
transition the homeless into permanent housing and to help keep
the needy from becoming homeless. We are not affiliated with any
one denomination but work together with all people of faith to
help those in need. Our guiding scripture is Matthew 25:40 “The
King will reply, I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one
of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”
The Grace
Place Emergency Food and Shelter Program offers a continuum of
service for the needy of Montague County. An all
volunteer board and staff allows us to keep our administrative
costs well below 5%.
Grants from FEMA and First Choice
Power allow us to make payments to prevent utility cut-offs and
evictions. We can also pay the first month’s rent for clients
who are transitioning into permanent housing. Using the First
Choice Grant, in 2006 we provided dental care and dentures for
a hard working mother of 4. This grant also funds emergency and
medical travel for residents of our county.
The Grace Place Store accepts donations of
gently used clothing, furniture and household items to help
families in need. Grace Place works with individuals, churches
and other social service providers in the county and outside the
county to attempt to meet the spiritual, physical, emotional,
intellectual, economic and social needs of our clients.
In 2005, Grace
Place began construction on a 4-plex of efficiency apartments in
Nocona on property donated by Steve
and Tammy Skinner. Gerri
Paine cut a CD to raise money for this project. Inglewood United
Methodist Church of Grand Prairie, Texas put up the basic
structure. In December of 2004, Rusty Fenoglio and Dr. West
donated a building that was sold in early 2006 to help finance
the project. Through the Grace of God, the Grace Place emergency
shelter opened in August of 2006. Additional donations from the
North Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church allowed us
to pay off a small loan that was necessary to complete the
foundation work.

Grace Place depends solely on private donations to pay the hard
costs of utilities and insurance and to maintain reserves for
major maintenance items such as roof repair and appliance
replacements. We need the ongoing support of our community to
help keep the lights on at Grace Place. While donations of cash
are much appreciated, there are many other ways you can help.
You can sponsor a fund-raiser to raise money and spread the word
about Grace Place. You can help minimize operational costs by
volunteering to help maintain the shelter and by
donating of furnishings and supplies.
Above all, Grace Place asks for your prayers. Pray that the Lord
will reveal his will to the Grace Place
board of directors, ministers and missionaries.
